The work of the Swedish artist Hannes Michanek is sort of like a fairytale in itself. When observing its landscapes you always discover something new, its objectsradiate something mystical. A surreal moment is omnipresent in Michaneks art. He works with shifts and displacements of size, space and time.
Opposites such as figuration and abstraction, nature and civilization, impastopaint and hard lines collide and create a mysterious power. On a seemingly lovely way an arthistorical topos is radically updated.
